Voionmaa Institute is located in the middle of Tampere city. The Institute is a part of Kiljava Institute, which is a Finnish folk high school located in Nurmijärvi.
The Voionmaa Institute provides one year studies in media and communication like film making, acting, journalism and photography and open university studies in pedagogy, psychology, history, politics and statistics.
There is also Qualification studies in audiovisual communication and photography.
All studies are in Finnish but in some cases we have taken english speaking students.

At the university campus parking facilities are limited. The TietoPinni building is run through Ratapihankatu (to the navigator Ratapihankatu 55). There are only few spaces in the area for two hour parking, which are located in front of Atalpa and Pinni B buildings.
It is recommended to park in Tampere’s chargeable parking garages. Nearest parking garages are P-Tampere-talo (Åkerlundinkatu 4, about 350 m) and P-Tullintori (Åkerlundinkatu/Itsenäisyydenkatu, about 500 m). Nearest chargeable outdoor parking is located in Sairaalakatu (about 600 m).
Tampere has good train connections from many directions and the train station is about a ten minute walk from the campus.

Tampere Bus Station is about a 10 minute walk from the campus and several long distance routes pass past the campus.
From the campus there is a short distance to the city center. But you can also use the city bus which passes by the campus. The City bus timetables can be viewed at Tampere regional transport.
You can get to the city center and train station from the Pirkkala airport by the city bus.
You can also take a taxi to the city center from the airport. Taxis are on call at the taxi stand in front of the airport in accordance with flight schedules.
